Staff Wetland Scientist

GTA is currently seeking a Wetland Scientist with 1-4 years of experience to join our growing team of professionals in our Abingdon, Maryland office. Join a dynamic group that supports both field and office tasks in the Natural Resource field throughout the mid-Atlantic region.  Primary responsibilities will include a mix of field investigations, data analyses, report writing, and permit application prep.  Wetland scientist field work includes wetland delineations, wetland assessments, locating wetland flags with handheld GPS units, soil characterizations, performing botanical and wildlife surveys, mitigation monitoring, and forest stand delineations.  As a member of GTA’s natural resource group, wetland scientists also coordinate with clients and engineers to prepare wetland delineation reports and plans, forest conservation plans, wetland and stream mitigation plans, and wetland permit applications.  Candidates with experience in performing wetland delineations or knowledge of mid-Atlantic flora and fauna and wetland science are preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS                              

  • BS Degree in environmental science, biology, natural resources or related field.
  • 1-4 Years of related experience, including field work
  • GPS, GIS, and AutoCAD experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain and develop client relationships
  • Willingness to work independently, including field work
  • Job requires travel to job sites, both in-state and out-of-state

Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 per year and commensurate with experience. Candidates with more than 4 years of experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
