Senior Wetland Scientist
Minnesota Native Landscapes, DBA Kjolhaug Environmental Services LLC (KES) is a wetland consulting firm headquartered near Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN. We are looking for an experienced, senior-level wetland scientist to lead delineation and permitting projects, wetland banking/restoration projects, environmental reviews and biological surveys. Kjolhaug Environmental Senior Wetland Scientist position duties
Perform wetland delineations following U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Minnesota guidance and wetland functional assessments
Prepare wetland delineation reports including off-site hydrology determinations and precipitation analyses
Prepare Minnesota WCA state permits including No Loss, Exemption, and Wetland Replacement Plans and USACE 404 permits including Pre-Construction Notifications, Jurisdictional Determinations, Nationwide and Individual Permits, and Regional General permits
Perform wetland mitigation monitoring field work and prepare annual reports
Map and assess vegetation communities and habitat quality
Coordinate rare species surveys and habitat assessments and prepare MN DNR Take Permits
Provide technical oversight and quality management of both field work and office deliverables for junior staff members
Participate in multi-disciplinary environmental planning and assessments for environmental review documents
Perform environmental assessments, permitting, and compliance for a wide variety of projects and clients
Manage small to large sized projects in a variety of sectors including transportation, land development, and city projects
Knowledge of Federal, State, County, City, and Watershed District rules in Minnesota
Experience working with multiple engineering firms, other wetland delineators, natural resources professionals, and environmental regulators
Understanding of and success with implementing project timelines and budgets
Preferred applicants will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and a M.S. degree emphasis in biological science, earth science, or natural resources with relevant coursework. All applicants with more than 5 years of experience and a B.S. degree and capable of performing the indicated duties will be considered. The successful applicant is anticipated to become the wetland team lead in 2 – 3 years. Salary range is from $85,000 - $110,000 based on education, years of experience and skill set.
