SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations at our facilities and during operation and maintenance projects along the right-of-way. This will require travel along the full length of natural gas pipeline in New York and Connecticut. Overnight stays will be required.

Primary duties include the following: wetland delineations, waste management, inspections and any other activity as decided upon by the Manager, Environmental Services.

Wetland delineations: Perform wetland delineations for our operations and maintenance projects along the right-of-way. Identify wetland and stream edges prior to vegetation maintenance projects annually prior to the mowing crew. The ability to identify invasive species. Annually walk the full right-of-way in Connecticut and document conditions indicating erosional issues, invasive species issues, ATV disturbance, etc.

Waste management: Coordinate with the field locations on waste pickup needs, ensure waste is properly stored, properly labeled, and ensure that documentation of waste disposal records is on file. Provide training as needed. Sample waste on project sites and document as needed.

Inspections: Complete quarterly facility inspections at our seven compressor stations ensuring adequate spill containment for waste drums, waste management documentation, air compliance documentation is onsite and available for inspection by a state or federal agency. Complete site inspections during operation and maintenance projects ensuring that all erosion and sedimentation controls are adequately installed and that all environmental permit conditions are being managed in accordance with the permits and regulations. Conduct pre-job training if required for field operations and contractors completing the work.

Surveys: Training will be provided to the qualified individual to conduct Optical Gas Imaging surveys on an as needed basis upon Field Operations repairing leaks at the facilities.

KNOWLEDGE

Familiar with environmental regulations including FERC, NYDEC, CTDEEP, USCOE.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A minimum of a BS degree in Environmental Science or a related physical science field. Wetland certified and at least three years’ experience with wetland delineations. The ability to identify invasive species. Environmental inspection is a plus. Proven ability to manage contractor relationships for projects.
