We are actively searching for a junior-level Biologist to become the next member of our team. Team Biologists are tasked with overseeing or completing specific roles on projects. Such roles require professional diligence to timetables and interacting with clients or construction crews in the field. The ideal candidate should have some experience problem solving onsite issues or be able to execute previously documented procedures for solving such issues.
The person hired for this role will be expected to be onsite at various locations throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area with a focus on the North Bay. This position is based in the broader San Francisco Bay Area and may be largely remote after the initial onboarding period. Candidates who are based in Sonoma County will be given preference.
In this role, you will:
Perform special-status species (plant and animal) surveys, wetland delineations, nesting bird surveys, and biological monitoring.
Perform fieldwork across a variety of landscapes throughout the Bay Area with a focus on Marin, Sonoma, and Napa Counties.
Assist teams working on a variety of market segments, including but not limited to - restoration, development, parks and open space, transportation, and resiliency.
Conduct special-status species habitat assessments and mapping.
Prepare technical reports and environmental documents including regulatory permit applications.
Assist project managers with documenting and reporting project compliance.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (Masters Preferred) in Ecology, Biology, or other Natural Resources-related field.
1-3 years of prior experience conducting fieldwork in California. This person will work on either small field teams or solo, so previous experience will be valuable.
Experience with northern California flora and fauna preferred.
Strong technical writing skills.
Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

The ability to walk, hike, and work outside for long periods of time.
Willingness to take on assignments that may require working extended hours.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to commute to various job sites as needed.
WRA has an established internal leveling system for our staff that maps to salary bands that have been informed by market data. Our leveling system is dependent on years of relevant industry experience, education, and the level of responsibility and autonomy at which you’re expected to operate.
*The salary range for this position is $66,000 - $76,500. In your first conversation with our recruiter, we will discuss leveling and compensation with you to make sure that expectations are aligned.
