Monthly webinars are offered as a benefit of membership. Once each quarter, in March, July, September, and December, the monthly SWS webinar is open for non-members to attend (and at no cost), as well.

Technical approaches to wetland delineation have continued to evolve with advancements in wetland science and technology. Recently, wetland delineation automated data sheets (ADS) have been developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and released for public use. The wetland delineation ADS populates many field indicators of hydrophytic vegetation, wetland hydrology, and hydric soils used to delineate wetlands based upon user inputs. Because USACE evaluates approximately 70,000 permit actions per year across the nation, the ADS represents a significant step forward to increase the efficiency and improve the accuracy of wetland delineations, yielding positive benefits to the public. The webinar will discuss the development of the wetland delineation ADS, demonstrate ADS capabilities, and provide helpful hints to successfully apply the ADS in a variety of contexts. Additionally, the companion wetland delineation ADS user guide will be introduced, along with a description of ongoing efforts to integrate the ADS technology into mobile and cloud applications.

Speaker: Jacob F. Berkowitz, PWS, CPSS, PhD
