Lorie Staver is an ecologist at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Horn Point Laboratory (UMCES HPL). Her focus is on restoration of nearshore and subtidal habitats to promote coastal resilience, estuarine water quality and carbon sequestration. Her work has focused on the role of nutrients in the restoration and sustainability of marsh and submersed aquatic vegetation communities. Current work includes tidal marsh restoration at the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island and studies of the ecosystem services provided by living shorelines.
