The Position: Wetland Scientist/Project Manager
Location: Bellingham, Washington
What You'll Do:
As a Wetland Scientist/Project Manager at Hamer, you'll be at the forefront of meaningful environmental work. Your
responsibilities will include:
Conducting wetland delineations, ratings, function assessments, mitigation monitoring, and restoration
planning.
Expanding our Wetland and Fisheries Division and strategizing new business development.
Managing and overseeing junior-level wetland staff.
Independently preparing technical reports, permitting documents, and maintaining excellent
communication with clients, employees, and subcontractors.
Developing and submitting project, research, and grant proposals to various agencies.
Conducting work year-round in adverse weather and rough terrain.
Providing presentations to groups or organizations based on project/study results.
Collaborating with Hamer staff and teaming partners on various natural resource projects.
Who You Are:
We're looking for qualified wetland professionals with the following qualities:
A high level of self-motivation and an enthusiastic leadership style.
Ability to manage multiple tasks successfully and exhibit scientific writing skills.
Background in wetland science, botany, and/or soils and hydrology.
Our Ideal Candidate Has:
A B.S. degree or higher in an environmental discipline with demonstrated experience in PNW plant, soil, and
wetland identification.
A minimum of six months of wetland delineation work in the Pacific Northwest.
A PWS Certification, or is close to attaining one.
Working knowledge of state and federal environmental laws and regulations.
A minimum of three years of field experience delineating and characterizing wetlands in the PNW.
Comfort working in both urban and remote field settings as well as in an office.
Strong project management and botanical skills for conducting vascular plant inventories.
Knowledge of GPS units and Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with ArcGIS and fisheries biology would be ideal.
