Staff Biologist- Wetland Scientist

Denver, CO - Full Time, Mid to Senior Level

The Staff Biologist will support multi-disciplinary survey and monitoring teams in construction and restoration monitoring, vegetation mapping, sensitive species surveys, jurisdictional delineations and other field work for various types of projects, including high-voltage transmission line routing, power generation construction activities and water treatment facilities.

  • Conduct field studies, including habitat assessments, aquatic studies and wildlife surveys.

  • Compile ecological risk assessments and collect project-related data for analysis in environmental and ecological impact projects.

  • Prepare technical reports such as species surveys, mitigation and monitoring plans, biological assessments and impact statements.

  • Conduct habitat evaluations and presence/absence surveys to evaluate potential project impacts to sensitive habitats and special status species.

  • Prepare environmental and ecological compliance audits.

  • Monitor mitigation sites including wildlife and vegetation studies.

  • Prepare GIS data for vegetation and wetland map production in accordance with standards and industry best practices.

  • Prepare a wide variety of permitting applications such as air, land use and cultural resources permitting.

  • Develop project permitting strategies to comply with state and federal laws and regulations such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Endangered Species Act, and the Clean Water Act.

  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field from an accredited program required. Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.

  • Minimum 4 years experience performing environmental and site studies, preparing permitting applications and analyzing environmental data for various environmental impact projects.

  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory agencies that govern biological and ecological resources.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of wetland, stream, ecological risks and protected species assessments.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods used for collection and analysis of environmental data.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of field investigation techniques.

  • Strong technical skills, statistical knowledge and attention to detail.

  • Ability to use creativity, problem-solving and analytical skills to develop solutions for project challenges.

  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.

  • Proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.

Compensation Range


The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
