Senior Environmental Scientist/Project Manager

Department: Environmental Consulting, Princeton Office

Reports to: Department Manager, Full-Time

Van Note - Harvey Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Senior Environmental Scientist to join our Princeton NJ team of environmental and engineering professionals.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of engineers, scientists, planners and other professionals to assemble regulatory compliant environmental plans and reports.
  • Perform wetland delineations, habitat assessments, vegetation surveys, sampling, and other project impact mitigation tasks for mapping and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and file environmental permit applications and provide technical support for regulatory approvals associated with land development and infrastructure projects.
  • Field inspections and project oversight.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, client maintenance, and business development activities.
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies and local government officials as needed.
  • Prepare materials for and participate in public meetings as needed.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Comprehensive familiarity of environmental principles.
  • Experience with environmental documents and regulatory submissions required for land development and infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers, NJDEP, and local land use/development regulatory programs.
  • Proficiency in addressing project impacts to wetlands, surface waters and water quality, riparian zones, endangered species, stormwater management, noise, and/or visual resources is desired.
  • Able to work efficiently independently and/or collaboratively with co-workers, clients, sub- contractors, and vendors to meet project objectives.
  • Effective writing skills, including preparation of technical reports and specifications.
  • Strong verbal skills, including the ability to present complex technical information and communicate effectively with project team members.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • AutoCAD and GIS experience a plus but not required.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of recent experience (additional experience a plus).
  • OSHA 40-hour training preferred.
  • Professional Wetlands Scientist certification or other professional licenses or certifications preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license (clean record).

Salary Range

$92k - $118k annual base pay. Wage commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package offered for full-time positions. Relocation assistance will not be provided.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

This position requires office work and field work including expected travel to and from project sites in all seasons. Applicants must be capable of considerable physical activity in an outdoor setting including, but not limited to, walking long distances, standing for extended periods, climbing, navigating potentially hazardous job sites, and lifting equipment up to 50lbs. In an outdoor working environment, exposure to extreme weather conditions may occur. Office work requires frequent and prolonged computer use. Occasional overtime, evening and/or weekend work may be required depending on project needs.
