The Foth Companies is currently seeking a team-focused, innovative, and results-oriented Project Environmental Scientist who is looking for new learning experiences and opportunities for career growth.  This position will be assigned to one of our Iowa locations (Des Moines, Cedar Rapids) while conducting field analysis and reporting throughout Iowa. 

Responsibilities:

    • Complete a diverse range of complex projects such as individual Section 404 permitting, wetland and stream mitigation/banking, MS4 program administration, and NEPA studies including Categorical Exclusions or Environmental Assessments
    • Organize and conduct technical and scientific investigations and perform statistical computations, to prepare and interpret charts, tables, graphs, and maps
    • Prepare and present detailed scientific or administrative reports of findings and analyses, orally or in written form, to clients and/or present at conferences and seminars
    • Mentor and train junior staff in field and report preparation
    • Foster and facilitate cooperation, pride, trust, group identity, and team spirit throughout the organization

Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in environmental science, natural resources, or related field
    • Minimum five years of experience in the environmental field developing knowledge of multiple state, federal, and local environmental laws, rules, and regulations and their application as it relates to environmental programs (NEPA, Stormwater, Section 106, Wetlands, Threatened & Endangered Species, etc.).
    • Understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) and the ability to utilize GIS in documenting and distributing data, and performing spatial analysis
    • Completion of basic wetland delineation training as specified by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to conduct Wetland and Waters of the United States Delineations

Preferred Qualifications:

    • 10 years of experience in the environmental field
    • Experience presenting scientific information to clients and/or at conferences/seminars
