
Natural Resource Scientist - Entry Level
Whitenton Group, Inc. (WGI) is seeking to hire an entry level Natural Resource Scientist to assist with field survey, data collection, and reporting. The successful candidate will be trained on-the-job. WGI is looking to fill this position in the immediate future.
Responsibilities:
Desktop evaluations/assessments
Conduct stream/wetland delineation(s) following the USACE guidance
Conduct protected species habitat evaluations and presence/absence surveys
GPS data collection and processing
Use of ArcGIS software to produce maps
Report compilation (environmental constraints analyses, environmental assessments, preliminary report(s) of findings, etc)
Communicate effectively with crew(s) and supervisors
Client and agency interaction
Requirements:
Attention to detail.
Task oriented, team player, and good attitude.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Overnight and extended travel which may include weekends/holidays (when needed)
BS (MS preferred) in a natural resource field of study.
Valid driver’s license
Pass routine/random drug testing.
ATV operation
Solutions oriented.
Quick response time
Must pass background security screening and safety training(s) for a variety of clients.
Physically able to perform field surveys and withstand challenging field conditions (terrain, extreme heat/cold, poisonous/biting/stinging critters, etc)
Work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment and fire-retardant clothing when required by client.
