We are looking for an Intern to join our Regulatory Team in our Indianapolis, IN office. Qualified candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills as the positions include interaction with internal team members, external clients, and regulatory agency staff. In addition, they must be able to work both independently and, in a team-based environment and possess the ability to manage several major activities at once. Candidates must have education courses in biology, botany, ecology, zoology, etc.) or in a related discipline.
General responsibilities include:
The Intern will serve as a member of the V3 Regulatory Team, and will assist with wetland and stream monitoring, wetland delineations, and report composition. This will involve a mixture of office and outdoor work. Responsibilities will include:
- Data collection for wetland delineations
- Data collection for stream and wetland monitoring
- Co-authoring wetland delineation reports, wetland and stream monitoring reports, permit applications, and other related documents
- Data processing in the office and in the field
- Exhibiting scientific rigor, a professional attitude, a strong work ethic, and conscientious business and ecological/environmental ethics
Minimum of three (3) years of completed study towards a Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, soil science, wildlife management, or a related field.
Fieldwork will involve dealing with summer heat, insects, and thorny vegetation. Fieldwork will also involve walking long distances over uneven terrain and strenuous activities like digging 18-inch-deep soil pits in undeveloped environments. Office work will involve the use of computers, focusing on Microsoft Office, GIS, and CAD software. Upon receipt of an offer of employment, candidates must complete required drug testing.
