Emmons & Olivier Resources, Inc. (EOR) has an immediate opening at our Boone, Iowa office.  EOR is an engineering and environmental consulting firm that specializes in: WATER (watersheds + water resources), ECOLOGY (ecosystems + natural resources) and COMMUNITY (civil engineering, landscape architecture + planning).    We have an exciting opportunity for a candidate to put their passion and talents to work with a team of environmentally focused professionals that foster a culture of growth, opportunity, and ecological stewardship.  

Brief Description: 

As part of our Natural Resources team, you will be responsible for conducting field work including wetland delineations and habitat assessments, writing reports and land management plans, preparing environmental permitting documents, and collecting, managing, and displaying geographic data using GPS and GIS.  The ideal candidate has prior consulting experience working on utility development projects and a sound overall knowledge of applicable regulatory programs.  Must thrive in a small company environment, which requires a well-rounded skill set, the ability to multitask, and the desire to explore innovative designs, processes, and ideas. Candidate should be detail orientated and able to both work independently and collaboratively with large teams. Wetland science/delineation, hydrology, and soil science backgrounds are also desirable.        

Education/Experience Requirements:  

·       Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, natural resources, or another physical/biological sciences field 

·       1-3 years of experience conducting field work, including ecological field studies, habitat assessment, and wetland delineations

Preferred Experience: Working towards or recognized as a Professional Wetland Scientist

·       At least 1 year of experience with being a wetland lead for projects using the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineations Manual and Regional Supplement(s)

·       Experience working with environmental, regulatory and land use agencies, such as: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Environmental Protection Agency, and Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

·       GIS experience required 

·       Project Management experience a plus 

Education/Experience Preferred:

·       Strong aquatic and terrestrial plant identification skills a plus

·       Well versed in invasive species programs including detection and management

·       Familiarity with local, state and federal environmental regulations

·       Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain

·       Able to carry, lift or pull equipment and materials weighing up to 40 pounds over long distance

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to conduct occasional field work (usually 1-2 days/week in growing season) including some overnight travel

Location: Boone, IA with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule
