Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our growing Louisiana team, supporting LADOTD and municipal projects with mentorship from industry leading professionals! This position can be based out of our Metairie or Baton Rouge office with required fieldwork throughout the region. The position does not require staff supervision

Role accountabilities:

• Lead environmental field investigations, including wetland delineations and protected species habitat assessments
• Employ strong technical/scientific writing skills to prepare technical reports and permit applications,
• Conduct species specific field surveys for protected species in Louisiana

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology or a related natural resources field
• 2 or more years’ experience in wetland delineation and Section 404 Clean Water Act permitting

Key Attributes

• Must possess experience with the following: delineation of wetlands and other waters of the U.S.; native plant identification, Section 404 permitting; Coastal Use Permits; protected species habitat assessment; wetland functional assessment and mitigation calculations
• Proficiency with Trimble GPS hardware and ArcGIS software required
• Be highly organized, responsive, work well under tight deadlines, have strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in ecology, biology or related natural resources field
• LADOTD or transportation related experience including reporting procedures, construction plan review, and project development process
• Knowledge of LADOTD NEPA process and Federal Highway Administration environmental review requirements
• Experience completing Section 7 Endangered Species Act consultations with U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Louisiana
