Dominik Zak is working at Aarhus University since 2016, Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Bioscience. Before and during that DZ worked at the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (2007-2017), the Environmental Agency of State Brandenburg (2013) and the Institute of Landscape Ecology and Site Evaluation of the University of Rostock (2017). DZ knowledge extends a range of biogeochemical processes, matter fluxes and nutrient dynamics in soils and sediments concerning the cycle of phosphorus, nitrogen, carbon, sulphur, and iron. On this basis, DZ is able to derive scientific principles for understanding the implications of actions and optimizing restoration measures and to support water authorities and landscape managers in environmental decision making. DZ has been and is currently project leader and WP leader for several research projects and the associate editor of the journal “Wetlands”.
